"My name is Emerence. I was born in Gisenyi in 1994. My secondary school was Agahozo Youth Village. I was studying history, economics and geography as one combination.

I lost my parents and some siblings in the genocide. I was just a new born, I don’t know much about what happened. During the 1994 genocide I and my sister, who is handicapped mentally, were lucky to be brought into an orphanage.

For now the government closed the orphanage. Like other children the government rented houses for us, I live with my sister who is older than me. In the orphanage my sister got epilepsy. She is always on drugs to calm the seizures as she is mentally handicapped.

I am pursuing my studies in university in order to be able to learn more and be a responsible person so that I can help my sister. I want to finish studies then get a job or create my own then provide for myself and my sister. This is the reason why I am humbly asking for help from you to help me attend university level to help me achieve my objectives."
